Apple lawsuit 300x300 150x150 Apple working on 7.85 inch iPad for next year, 8GB version of the iPad 2 coming next weekApple is going to announce the next-generation iPad next week, the invitations that were sent Tuesday included a clues about the iPad. However, the company has also plans to make room for a 8GB version of the iPad 2, this model will be aimed at the low-end market and will replace the current iPad 2 models. The production of 7.85” iPad could start in the third quarter of this year.

Everything suggests that Apple will introduce the iPad 3 next week at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. We are quite sure that it will feature a ‘retina’ with a resolution of 2048 x 1536. Digitimes claims that it has received information from sources close to Apple that there is also going to be an 8GB version of the iPad 2. This lower priced Apple tablet should compete with low-end Android tablets and the expected Windows 8 tablets that are set for release later this year.According to Digitimes, the 8GB version will be available for $349-399 and the price of the 16GB will be lowered to $449. The other possibility is that Apple will slash the price of the current iPad with $100 like they did last year, this will be done to make room for the iPad 3 and this will also mean that the iPad 2 will not return in an 8GB version.

The site reports that Apple is still working on a smaller version of the iPad with a screen size of 7.85” inch. Manufactures already created the samples and the production could start in the third quarter of this year, which will likely result in a launch early next year.
