The application is now capable of sending an email when an offline device is coming back online, and it will automatically determine the location of the device. They also added the option to remove an offline from the list as well. With the Find My iPhone service it is possible to keep track of your lost/stolen iPhone, and try to get it back. Not only is it possible to view the location of the device, you can easily remotely erase everything or start playing an alarm. The last option is quite useful if your iPhone is lost at your home.

Find My iPhone was previously part of MobileMe, this service was however available for free for anyone that owns an iPhone, iPad or fourth-generation iPod Touch. You will now need to login to iCloud with your Apple ID and password. Installing the application isn’t necessary, cause it is possible to use the Web browser to access all the functions and view the location of your iDevice on the map. Don’t forget to enable the Find My iPhone service in the settings menu, it is also required that you will login with your Apple ID.

The application is available for free and requires iOS 3.1.3 or higher, there is also a other application available called ‘Find My iPhone’ but this one costs money and isn’t the official application either.
